There’s An Evil Cat in the Yard
There’s an evil cat in the yard.
Every time my pack and I go outside to “do our business” (which is what the humans call it) it’s there.
It likes to sit high in a tree and meow. Even though Maddie, Roxie and I are busy minding our own business, sniffing and getting things done, this evil cat will sit in the tree meowing and taunting us.
“Ha, ha, ha. I’m up here and you’re down there. You’ll never get me,” the cat says.
“Just let me try,” Maddie barks and jumps up on tree. I jump up on the tree, but more because I want to make friends. I think Maddie would prefer to eat the cat.
“Why don’t you come down so we can play?” I say to the cat.
The cat sniffs. “Are you kidding? Besides, I don’t play with dogs.”
“Yeah, and we don’t play with cats,” Maddie says and glowers at me.
“But I like cats,” I say. “Why can’t we all be friends?”
The cat sniffs again. “I would never be friends with a dog. Dogs are stupid.”
“Why don’t you come down there and say that. I’ll show you how stupid dogs are,” Maddie says.
At this point, Michele usually rounds us all up and gets us back into the house. She says we’re causing a ruckus. It’s so hard for me, all I’m trying to do is make a new friend.
“You can’t make friends with evil cats,” Maddie says to me as we all trot back in the house. “Get over it.”
Wuff,
Nick, the border collie
