Dog/Lizard Paradigm—The Teleclass
I was out in the yard the other day when I almost stepped on a lizard.
I had been pondering my obedience class idea — more specifically I was trying to figure out a way to start an obedience class without actually starting an obedience class, and wasn’t paying any attention to where I was going.
“Hey, watch it,” a gruff voice said.
I looked down to see a lizard. Lizards have always been rude to me, and I remembered how the other dogs in my obedience class also said lizards were rude.
“Sorry,” I said. “I was thinking about something else.”
The lizard flicked its tongue out. “Yeah, well, you should watch where you’re going.” It started skittering away.
“Hey, wait a second,” I called out impulsively. Maybe I could make friends with this lizard and then I could change the whole dog/lizard relationship paradigm. “Why don’t you like us? Dogs, I mean? We’re just trying to be friends.” Read the rest of this entry »
